This opportunity will be in direct support of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). With the distinct responsibility of improving the cabling structure throughout the United States.
Who are you?
- Entry-Level Technician: You are interested in learning the inner workings of cabling operations. You may not have any experience running Category 3, 5e, 6, coaxial, multimode, and single mode optical cable, and that is OK! In this position, you are going to be learning from the ground up how to conduct yourself and improve professionally in the Cabling Industry.
- No security clearance? No problem!: This position does not require a security clearance but will require a standard background check to ensure the best possible workforce for our customer.
What you’ll do:
- Assist the Senior and Junior Project Managers with installing and testing Category 3, 5e, 6 coaxial, multimode, and single mode optical fiber cable plants.
- Verify and test all new installed cabling for compliance with latest edition of ANSI/TIA Wiring Standards to ensure the overall quality and performance of the structured telecommunications cabling systems (STCS)
- Test all copper cable end to end in accordance with latest TIA Standards
- Test horizontal cabling in accordance with permanent link and modular plug terminator link criteria
- Measure and record backbone cabling for continuity, crossed and revered pairs, open and split pairs, and shorts
- Test all optical fiber cables bi-directionally and end-to-end, and for termination, compliance to insertion loss values, and acceptable db loss
- Test Audio Visual systems that use a combination of cable types and support video and sound
